This section participates in KDHE's water quality standards program by performing assessments of the existing and attainable designated uses of streams. These assessments are called Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) surveys. A UAA survey is performed according to defined protocols to determine if a surface water (stream, lake, wetland) is capable of supporting one or more of the designated uses as defined in the Kansas Surface Water Standards (K.A.R. 28-16-28d(a)). This section is also responsible with revising the Kansas Surface Water Register and the Kansas Surface Water Quality Standards (K.A.R. 28-16-28d et seq.) to reflect the findings of UAA surveys.
